Top Tips
Whether you're new to BankLink, or you've been using the service for some time, Top Tips are always useful! We've put some together below - if you have any you'd like to share let us know and we'll do our best to include them...
The BankLink Guide
- It's available on-line when you press F1 in BankLink Practice, or in PDF format from this website - to go to the Software Guides page, click here.
To check which version of BankLink Practice you're using
- Click Help, About - you can also see our Support phone numbers there!
Hide unwanted columns from the Code Entries Screen
- Click View, Configure Columns and remove the V against any column you don't want to display, then click OK. This only changes the display for the bank account you're looking at - see the BankLink Practice Guide, Chapter 3: Start Coding for more information on how to configure columns.
Swap coding periods in the Code Entries Screen
- Click the Coding icon - choose the date and click OK to see the range of transactions you want to work on next.
When you're changing your coding period selection use the Calendar button
- Choose from This Calendar Month, Last Quarter, This Financial Year, Last Financial Year and All Data.
Use the repeat key: + on your numeric keypad
- It's not just for copying the Account code to the next line; you can use + to copy Narration and Payee as well.
The = key works magic in BankLink Practice: -
- When you've added Unpresented Cheques press = to add a value before coding the item
- Change the value of a transaction you've added via Historic Data Entry - select the transaction and press = to edit the amount
- Press = when you want to insert a balancing amount in Journals
Cancel an unpresented item
- Find the item you want to cancel, click to select it and press Ctrl+Del - if you haven't transferred the data or produced a BAS the item will be removed, otherwise BankLink Practice puts a reversal through for you!
Setting up Report Groups is easy
- Use the Ctrl and/or Shift keys to select a group of codes and then use a shortcut key to assign the report group - the keys are listed on the back of the Quick Reference Card, and also in the BankLink Practice Guide - just press F1 to access it.
